PROVENCE & THE CÔTE D'AZUR: BIKE & CRUISE

BIKING IN FRANCE FOR 2005

Cote dazur palmensundown.jpg (3359 bytes)Who hasn't heard about the unique blue sea and the glamour of Cannes, St-Tropez, and Antibes? And who has not dreamed about the  beauty of the villages of Provence? The Côte d'Azur unites all in one -- the sea with magnificent beaches and breathtakingly beautiful landscapes. The atmosphere of charming nobility and elegance in combination with the flair of Southern France and untouched nature is not just a very popular background for movies. 300 days of sunshine a year and the mild, Mediterranean climate guarantee springtime temperatures already in February and a unique bike experience.

Cote dazur independiaklein.jpg (2329 bytes)M/Y INDEPENDIA: Former yacht in civil service. Big salon in noble style with well equipped bar.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Independent arrival in Toulon. Embark and settle into your comfortable cabin.

Day 2 - Toulon to Hyères/La Tour Fondue (approx. 28-43km):  Along the coast through little seaside resorts, passing colonies of flamingos close to the “Salt Street” until you reach the little harbor of La Tour Fondue, at the cape of the peninsula of Giens, which is protected by a massive Fort. Hyères with its historic part of the city is worth a visit.

Cote dazur porquerolles200.jpg (2247 bytes)Day 3 - Île Porquerolles (approx. 0-30km): This Island is a paradise for bikers: You will discover untouched nature, breathtaking beaches, historic buildings and a small, active harbor town. From Fort St. Agatha (location for the Hollywood movie “The Man in the Iron Mask”) you will enjoy a great view of the mainland.

Day 4 - Hyères to Le Lavandou (approx. 40km): Endless, calm sand beaches, feudal palaces, palm tree lined avenues through vineyards.....

Cote dazur stropez200.jpg (4251 bytes)Day 5 - Le Lavandou via Cavalaire-sur-Mer to St-Tropez (approx. 20km): A day which could not be more different: An impressive landscape on the coast, lonely trails through untouched nature and the harbor of St.Tropez make a unforgettable experience out of this day.

Day 6 - Fréjus/St-Raphael to Roquebrune and return  (approx. 30km): Cruise to Fréjus. Within the old fortress of the Middle Aged town Roquebrune you feel set back into long passed times.

Day 7 - Antibes to Cannes & Return (approx. 15-40km): After the cruise to Antibes you do a tour to the cape, whose top is only reachable on foot. Cannes, one of the most exclusive places along the Côte d´Azur, is famous for its sand beaches and the 2km long “Boulevard de la Croisette”.

Day 8: Cannes to Antibes: Individual departure from the ship.

This tour also operates in reverse on select dates: Day 1: Antibes. Day 2: Cannes. Day 3: Frejus/St Raphael. Day 4: St-Tropez to Le Lavandou. Day 5: Le Lavandou to Hyeres. Day 6: Ile Porquerolles. Day 7: La Tour Fondu to Toulon. Day 8: Depart from Toulon.
